Supercharged Solar for Renters Program

  • What it is: A Queensland Government initiative offering landlords up to $3,500 to install solar PV systems on rental properties, benefiting tenants with lower bills. About 6,500 renting households could save ~$700/year.
  • Eligibility: Open to landlords with existing tenancy agreements, using CEC-accredited installers.

Key Details & Eligibility:

  • Rebate Amounts: Tiered based on system size: 

    3.0 kW – 3.99 kW: $2,500

    4.0 kW – 4.99 kW: $3,000

    5.0 kW or more: $3,500 
  • Landlord Criteria: Must be an Australian resident owning a detached home, duplex, or townhouse in Queensland. Landlords can claim up to 3 properties max.   
  • Property Criteria: Rent must be $1,000/week or less, individually metered, and have no existing functional solar system.  
  • Tenant Terms: Requires tenant consent and an active fixed-term lease with at least 8 months remaining at the time of final approval.   
  • Installer Requirements: The system must be supplied by a New Energy Tech Approved Seller (NETCC) and installed by an accredited installer using approved products   

Process Warning:

Landlords must apply for conditional approval before installing the system. Retrospective claims on systems installed prior to approval will be rejected. Applications are submitted directly via the official Queensland Government Portal.
